PROVIDENCE, R. I. -- Libby Kimzey, a 2010 Brown University graduate and community activist, kicks off her bid for a state House of Representatives seat with a campaign fundraiser Tuesday night.
The House District 8 seat -- which represents Providence's Federal Hill, Olneyville and Valley neighborhoods -- is current held by Rep. Michael Tarro.
Kimzey is the director of programs at Capital Good Fund, a Providence nonprofit that provides small loans, workshops and consulting services to individuals unable to access capital through traditional sources. She previously was its loan officer.
Kimzey also previously worked for Common Cause and managed Brown's 20/20 initiative that put energy-efficient lighting in 5,300 homes statewide.
Her "Day One" celebration is from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at 515 Broadway, #3, Providence.
